Document Town of Collingwood Subdivision Guidelines
December, 2002
The objectives of the Subdivision Design Guidelines are to provide a tool for implementing the community’s design vision and Town’s planning policies. The Town will use the guidelines as a reference to gauge the compatibility and appropriateness of proposed plans of subdivision prior to approval. The guidelines will guide the overall design of subdivisions to ensure that there is compatibility between proposed and existing neighbourhood plans and employ high standards of design that reflect the urban design objectives for the community. The purpose of the design guidelines is:
- To provide a tool for implementing urban design policies;
- To provide direction and guidance to developers for the preparation of subdivision plans;
- To further articulate the policies and principles in the Town’s Official Plan;
- To encourage innovation, uniqueness and design standards that reflect the expectations of the community;
- To evaluate the appropriateness of proposed developments prior to the issuance of subdivision plan approvals and building permits.
