The Town Clerk at the Collingwood Municipal Offices, 97 Hurontario Street, Collingwood, Ontario will receive Proposals until 2:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, September 30, 2010 for:

 

RFP NO.  PW2010-09  MicroFIT Solar PV Design Build Project

 

The Town of Collingwood is inviting contractors and suppliers to submit proposals for a Photovoltaic (PV) Solar array that would be constructed on Town owned property or the rooftop of a Town building. The anticipated system would generate up to 10 kilowatts of electricity to be sold to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) under the MicroFIT (Feed-in Tariff) program.

 

The project is focused on the education and awareness component of the installation. This is intended to be a demonstrative installation that complements the historic nature of the Town while encouraging residents and visitors to achieve a better understanding of the technology. The system would demonstrate how renewable technologies can be used to generate energy while also blending into the community in an unobtrusive manner.

 

The MicroFIT program, under the Green Energy Act, is seen as an opportunity for the Town to exhibit its environmental stewardship and illustrate support for alternative energy production. The RFP encourages unique and creative proposals both in terms of the visual appearance and educational value of the system, and in terms of partnerships or financing strategies that would minimize the capital investment required by the Town.
