About the Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment and Planning Services
The Committee of Adjustment which consists five (5) local residents who are appointed by Council is an independent quasi judicial administrative tribunal whose authority is granted by the Province through Section 44 of The Planning Act R.S.O. 1990 c.P13, as amended.
The applications are heard at a Public Meeting that is scheduled every three weeks in Community Room "B" on the 3rd Floor of the Public Library located at 55 Ste. Marie Street.
The Committee considers Minor Variance and Consent applications as follows:
1.) Site specific minor variances from the Zoning By-law(s),
- Permission to alter or change a legal non-conforming use of land.
2.) Consent,
- to sever land into more than one lot
- to register a lease over part of a lot for more than 21 years
- to create an easement or right-of-way
- to a technical conveyance (where land was originally separated and has since become joined and
- validation certificate(s).
